"Equality isn't just a principle; it's the cornerstone for building empowered and motivated workplaces."

Background

My parents instilled the importance of family unity, work ethics and giving back to society into me at an early age.

I was born in England. I attended a local school, and my parents always encouraged me to do my very best in my education and extracurricular activities.

Education

There is a tradition of attending law school in my immediate family and I am the second generation to attend university to read law.

I made the decision to go to university as a mature student and utilized my childhood strengths. Growing up in a large family taught me strong communication and persuasion skills, negotiation and problem solving skills, teamwork, commercial awareness, resilience, self-confidence, and using my initiative.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honors) LLB in 2006. I hold a postgraduate qualification from BPP University Law School, where I attained a Legal Practice Certificate (LPC). After a period of training, I qualified as a solicitor.

Career

My journey echoes a commitment to break norms for a more inclusive future.

I began my legal career at a city law firm in the UK over fifteen years ago, predominantly working with third-party funders on various litigation matters. This role enabled individual clients to bring claims which they were otherwise unable to pursue due to lack of resources, or to assist companies that did not want to risk costly, lengthy litigation.
In 2011, I joined the DIFC Courts Pro-Bono Programme in Dubai, assisting individuals in need of legal advice and facilitating litigants’ access to justice. In 2013, I was one of the first lawyers in Dubai to be presented with the Access to Justice Award, a significant achievement for me.
Later, I worked as a self-employed Consultant Solicitor after building a loyal client base, dealing with a mixture of litigation and dispute resolution cases, specifically focusing on contractual disputes.

More recently, I have been involved in drafting energy, sports and entertainment law and commercial contracts. I advocate for equality and diversity in the Energy Sector and I focus on underrepresented groups to correct misconceptions relating to women, children, people with disabilities, and cross-cultural differences in sports law. The energy and sports law sectors need to take significant strides to break away from conventional norms and embrace inclusivity, paving the way for a more diverse future with supportive systems.
